Issue 14

It is hard to imagine this past year without the the growing conversations about climate change (and rightfully so!!) For Issue 14, the e-board wanted to give our contributors the opportunity to explore this multifaceted moment in the zeitgeist in all of its complexities. “The World is Burning” presents written and visual contributions from our inquisitive contributors which does just that. Some stories took the issue head on, such as Chaz Gilman and Izzy Salas the insightful considerations of sustainability in the context of music festivals and streaming platforms. For others, the theme “The World is Burning” also evoked the particularly hot climate which has also contemporarily come to characterize the culture online, what is now realized as “call out culture.” Such is the case in Doria Kahn’s essay, “Ice For That Bern” she reckons with the intersection between politics and social media, and the heated Tweets that have been born of it. From the entire e-board and myself, we hope “The World is Burning” will incite our readers to also critically consider the implications of this moment in cultural history. Stay heated (or cool down)
